MANILA IS HONORED BY ELLE DECO INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS

YEAR: 2018

Being a candidate for the EDIDA is a prestigious recognition for the entire design community, being rewarded means having achieved excellence with your work. Elle Deco International Design Awards is the International event that since 2003 celebrates the best projects and talents in the sector, selected in 13 different categories. The winners are chosen by a large and authoritative jury composed by the editors in chief of the global Elle Decoration circuit. The award ceremony, that took place in Milan during the Salone del Mobile, elected Manila by Paola Navone as the best product of the year in the OUTDOOR category.

The reasons behind this recognition lie in the uniqueness of the project. Bringing sophisticated leather furniture en plein air could seem like a utopia, but thanks to research and experimentation Baxter turned this fantasy into reality. Manila is an example of such an extraordinary undertaking. Created in collaboration with the designer Paola Navone, it is part of the first Baxter collection entirely dedicated to outdoor.

Manila is surprising for the materials used: Manila tubular structure of etched copper and cane, with a handmade weave of a technical rope covered in soft and experienced Cloister leather. A leather with exceptional characteristics, because it is made of rough pieces from American natives and tanned in order to be used in outdoor environments. Manila is a masterpiece of truly unique material eclecticism in this furnishing segment.

To allow the design and organization of the most diverse outdoor sets, the concept is available in an armchair, seat and chair in the garden and navy shades and with or without leather cushions.
